Texas Party

We went to a going away party for some friends who are moving back to Canada so Texas dress was encouraged. We borrowed a pair of boots for Lydia (who loved them) and had a great time in the Texas heat! And Lydia already has an awesome farmer's tan.

Random thoughts (con)

  • Lydia had an issue with hitting other children but fortunately we've gotten it mostly taken care of. When we pick her up from childcare she almost always runs up to us and says-I didn't hit! But with kids there is always something else...like grabbing toys, etc. The other day we were playing with some friends and Lydia pinched the other girls (first and last time she's done that). I asked her-Why did you pinch her? Lydia looked and me and all serious said-Because I did not hit her!
  • We have lots of nicknames for the girls. Like Lydibug and Glowbug. From Caleb, Boogerpoo and Spittywiggle. Well Lydia likes making some up too. For a while she always called Gloria Glory-ew and herself Lydi-ew. Well now we are on a Bambi phase and Lydia is Bambi (sometimes little without horns and sometimes big with horns) and Gloria is Thumper-she lives up to the name because she drums with her hands a lot.
  • Since Gloria is the queen of spit up and is also crawling and eating food, we find little wet orange or green colored spots all over the carpet. Our house is half tile, half carpet and Gloria prefers t o crawl on the tile which is good for this problem but she will spit up and then crawl through it and is a mess these days!

Random thoughts

Here are some things from our life:
  • Lydia asked Caleb-Are you happy? He said-Yes. She said-Be happy with your face!
  • Lydia loves going to church and singing songs about Jesus! Its fun to watch her learn. We are teaching her to be ecumenical-when we say Happy Easter, she says He is Risen!
  • Mad dogs and Englishmen....our winter schedule has been to go to the park right after lunch but uhhh its starting to get too hot to do that now so we are going to have to change our schedule. But good news is the pool is opening soon!
  • Lydia doesn't take a nap only a 'rest time' which is mostly rest for mommy. For a while she was totally destroying her room so we made a list of yes yeses (like read, sing quietly, play with dolls, etc) and no nos (like don't open your drawers, or the closet door or take all your books off the shelf) As she gets more creative that list gets longer (like don't move your chair and get the lotion off the top shelf and pour it all over you). I also find her in interesting positions when I come in. Yesterday she was covered in stickers, especially her toes. Today she was stuck in the arm of her rocking chair and saying Help quietly. The other day she was standing in baby doll high chair (that got added to her no no list). But mostly she is laying on the floor or sitting in her chair reading.

Orange food!

Yumm, both girls' first bite of carrots (or maybe sweet potatoes).

Sisters - past and present

e

I am loving putting Gloria in all of Lydia's old clothes. Gloria is smaller and born two months earlier in the year so she is older in most of th comparisons. If you can't tell Lydia is on the left.

Saw 'em off Ags!

Another cute sister comparison! (It was hard to get this of Gloria because she's not really a crier, when I first got the camera out while she was fussing, she saw it and started smiling-so we had to leave her for a while longer-I felt kinda mean!)

Same old Mom

With Gloria in 2009.
With Lydia 2008.
We go to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center every year and I was glancing through the photos from last year and its kinda scary! I did not plan this picture or even realize that I was wearing the same shirt as last year, notice the head tilt, the sunglasses, the sticker in the same place. Do I look a year older? As my 30th birthday is next week, I am just wondering....
