Atlanta Aquarium

The Atlanta Aquarium is AMAZING. The sections are: Ocean, Coral, River, Cold Water and Kids play area. We got to watch them feed Whale Sharks, play in a boat, touch some rays, see lots of fish and ate lunch.
Tunnel under the 'ocean'.
Lots of huge tanks

Gloria got to crawl around some too.

Georgia Home Time

Peterson Family Home
We spent a lot of time around this table-eating and after the kids went to bed we played card games. On this night Gloria ate a huge serving of mac and cheese and zucchini.
Lydia's first time to get her fingers and toes painted!
While the big kids played the Wii, Lydia watched 'the movie' and Gloria got in the way.

Monday night we went back to Walmart because our umbrella stroller got broken-every great vacation should begin and end at Walmart! We also got our rental car.
Tuesday we got up, packed up, said goodbye to our wonderful hosts and ate breakfast on the drive north to Atlanta.

More peaches

Then went to a commercial peach factory, where we got to watch men boxing them-Lydia didn't like the noise. There was a playground which kept the kids entertained. We had a picnic lunch, fed the ducks and headed back to the house in Macon.

Lydia loves to swing and enjoyed having a cousin join in.
The ducks got our leftover sandwiches.

Trip-Monday

Georgia Peaches!
Christy had to go back to work, but the rest of us headed south to a peach farm and picked our own peaches. We got to eat as many as we could, and they were really good, even Gloria enjoyed them and got sooooo messy.

Whistle Stop Cafe

After the Nature Preserve we stopped in Juliette home of the Whistle Stop Cafe of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes. We arrived late for lunch and were told 25 minutes, after over an hour we were finally seated, then it took over an hour to get our food. We were hot, tired, hungry; Gloria was fussy and messy and no place to crawl-quite a low part of the trip but it turned into quite a joke. Since we were there for so long I thought it deserved several pictures!
Sharing a prelunch milk shake.
The Fried Green Tomatoes.
Waiting and waiting and waiting
That evening after the kids were in bed we played cards.

Sunday we went to their very large, very nice church and swimming in the afternoon at a neighbors' pool and more late night cards and talks.

Trip - Friday & Saturday

Friday the girls went to Walmart and then into downtown Macon for yummy pizza. McKenzie had a friend from Texas visiting too.
Christy and David took the younger kids to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame to play while we toured an Antebellum home-the Hay House. Very fancy.
That evening we walked around their green, hilly neighborhood with lots of trees, then stayed up late discussing health care (one of our current favorite topics)

Saturday got a quick start to a Nature Preserve north of Macon-beautiful grounds with lots of animals including bobcats who were talking to each other, alligators and a pond with turtles and fish. Lydia said her favorite part (from Dora) was petting the pig.

Our Trip to Georgia

Our family flew to Atlanta Georgia and had a wonderful time visiting family and friends. The 95 degree raining weather was wonderful. Both of our flights were delayed 1.5 hours but the girls were great while traveling.

Thursday-Austin airport. We told Lydia we were walking to the gate and she asked where the fence was! The flight was full and several babies in arms like Gloria but she slept in the carrier on me.
Adam (A&M friend) picked us up and we went to a fun seafood restaurant then back to his awesome home where we got the tour and played with the dog.
