Gloria's Dedication

Our church does baby dedications, and today we dedicated Gloria to God and said as her family we will raise her to know and love Jesus. She and big sister wore matching purple dresses and both were very well behaved in front of the church, though Gloria fussed a little when the preacher held her to pray. Elizabeth's parents came for the celebration and we went out to eat a hippie restaurant-Mother's-nearby and then swam back at our neighborhood pool. It was a special day!

Pool's open!

Yay, we love to swim and we have a wonderful pool walking distance in our neighborhood. Caleb is life guarding there as a summer job. I spent too much money (but that's what its for, right) on the girls matching swimsuits-ladybug for Lydia and butterfly for Gloria. We love all the coverage for our fair little girls. We have also been playing in friend's backyard pools too. Gloria's new favorite thing to do is stand up. She does it about 10 times before every nap now!

Lydia Two and Half

We are still taking monthly photos of Lydia and this month she turned two and half (and she likes to tell you that when asked how old she is). I asked her to stand for me and first she pretend pouted and then did her I'm-so-cute-smile and then of course did the open mouth 'smile' She is a riot.

A day

Mondays are our day at home normally. Today was a day. I felt very earthy because Gloria wore cloth diapers all day and we had veggies out of our friend's farm and I blended some up for Gloria to eat with us. We are doing a lot more homemade baby food this time around.
Gloria has learned to pull to standing so before each nap time I had to go in a few times to put her back down because she can stand up but then doesn't know what to do about it!
Lydia also loves to help me cook, mostly because she gets to lick the bowl.
Lydia loves to pretend be the main character of lots of stories and we are the supporting characters. For a long time it was Bambi with G-Thumper, and us the parents; then it was Winnie the Pooh, E-Owl, C-Tigger and G-Piglet; then we've done Nemo for a day; Baby Moses is a big one with G-Miriam (even though she knows that is the big sister) E-the princess who is Moses' new mommy and C-Ramses. Well I should have seen it coming but yes today Lydia decided she was Jesus! I was Peter, Gloria was Zachesus and Caleb was a random disciple. I told her that she had to always obey and no fussy and only being sweet and kind to her sister if she was Jesus (she was having issues with that today). After a while I told her there is only one Jesus and she can't be him (I am learning so much about teaching a child about Jesus, its hard!) Lydia asked the other day if the big Jesus was going to be at baby Jesus' church while we were on the way!
Life is busy with a crawler.

Gloria's Tongue

Have I mentioned Gloria has a long tongue?

At the Wildflower Center and with a friend at a playgroup at an awesome garden shop that has donkeys, a tipi, chickens and more.

Texas Party

We went to a going away party for some friends who are moving back to Canada so Texas dress was encouraged. We borrowed a pair of boots for Lydia (who loved them) and had a great time in the Texas heat! And Lydia already has an awesome farmer's tan.

Random thoughts (con)

  • Lydia had an issue with hitting other children but fortunately we've gotten it mostly taken care of. When we pick her up from childcare she almost always runs up to us and says-I didn't hit! But with kids there is always something else...like grabbing toys, etc. The other day we were playing with some friends and Lydia pinched the other girls (first and last time she's done that). I asked her-Why did you pinch her? Lydia looked and me and all serious said-Because I did not hit her!
  • We have lots of nicknames for the girls. Like Lydibug and Glowbug. From Caleb, Boogerpoo and Spittywiggle. Well Lydia likes making some up too. For a while she always called Gloria Glory-ew and herself Lydi-ew. Well now we are on a Bambi phase and Lydia is Bambi (sometimes little without horns and sometimes big with horns) and Gloria is Thumper-she lives up to the name because she drums with her hands a lot.
  • Since Gloria is the queen of spit up and is also crawling and eating food, we find little wet orange or green colored spots all over the carpet. Our house is half tile, half carpet and Gloria prefers t o crawl on the tile which is good for this problem but she will spit up and then crawl through it and is a mess these days!
