Pokerface

Background-Caleb has been doing a lot of running and is listing to good upbeat music on his ipod now.    Sidenote, the Stuff Christians Like blog once did a post on the lack of good Christian music for working out.
The story:  Sunday afternoon Gloria was wearing sunglasses and calling herself a rockstar.  In the car she asked-what is a rockstar.  They, of course, know Justin Beiber (oh baby baby baby oh,  oops I get sidetracked) and then asked about who are some others.  After naming Lady Gaga, Gloria said she wanted to hear a Lady Gaga song, Caleb pulled out his ipod because he has Pokerface for running, so we listened to it a couple of times (can't read my pokerface...pokerface, pokerface, pokerface).  They wanted to know what a pokerface was, so I did preschool explanation of the game and why not showing if you are happy or sad is important.  Then they asked why she sounded like a robot.  Later they asked if we could play poker and my normal mommy response-not tonight but if you remember then we can tomorrow.  We had a minute before bedtime and Caleb played the song in the living room and ALL of us danced liked robots (we knew some moves from the Robot song on Just Dance and the Wii).  Monday night Lydia remembered so we pulled out a deck of cards and learned poker.  While Caleb was shuffling Gloria asked- is this when we do the face!  Yes we had perfect pokerfaces the whole game, even when Gloria had all her cards facing out, or on the ground.  Lydia, like her mother, looks slightly angry when trying to look calm, but Caleb and Gloria are experts at blank.  They didn't really understand the rules and we didn't even try to explain betting but it was fun!

PS I hesitated from putting this out for the world to see on the web-oh no we are corrupting our daughters-but it is something I want to remember!
